The Workout Log

I used to track my workouts on plain college rule paper in a binder. Once I joined a gym and was working out at home and the gym I started having to take a small notebook with me. This meant my workouts were not all in the same place and that bugged me. I was on Facebook one day reading the comments in an exercise post, when someone mentioned The Workout Log book. I went to Amazon and threw one in my cart. It stayed there for several months before I finally committed to buying it. I’m not big on exercise books because usually they have a tiny little spot...

It’s Not About A Number

Ever since having a baby I’ve struggled with losing the weight. Before I had her, I had finally gotten skinny after having 3 kids, and watching my body transform back into a larger form was hard to do. I worked out the entire pregnancy as much as I could, yet still gained 30 pounds. I only know my weight because I went to the allergist and they weighed me. It’s not about a number, it’s about becoming stronger physically and mentally. Weightlifting changed my life. 4 years ago, I found it at a time when I was lost and confused and it seriously helped me focus and I became more...

Biceps & Triceps

Yesterday’s workout was a good arm workout for the biceps and triceps. The soreness from chest day was already setting in so some movements were a little rough. I managed to get this workout in early in the day while Penelope coached from her baby swing. Here is what I did:  ...

Chest Day

Two weeks ago I stopped going to Crossfit. I really enjoyed a lot of things about Crossfit but there were also things I didn’t enjoy. The people were amazing and super motivating. When I would be the last person to run inside they would cheer me on as they passed me. When I started I consistently went almost every day for 3-4 months. I missed Saturdays and Sunday’s usually but I was really into the challenge that Crossfit workouts gave. After and during those 3-4 months I noticed that I wasn’t noticing anything when it came to my body changing. Maybe this was diet related but I have to think...

I Lift for Dessert Basic Routine

This guide is my go to basic weight-lifting chart. If you stick with these basics for three months I guarantee you will see results! This is the update version. Old version is below. This is the older version of the workout. Basically the same I just decided to update the style and a few exercises and typos. This surprisingly is re-pinned a lot on Pinterest!...

Simple, yet Effective

Last night while the Cubs were in the 5th inning, I went to my basement to get a quick workout in. A few weeks ago I purchased a hex bar off of Amazon for a great price. I was pumped to get it in the mail and then it went to the basement and I didn’t look at it again for a month. My basement has spiders, really big spiders too. A couple months ago I was working out and a huge spider came crawling across the floor. I freaked out, tried to kill it with some weed killer that was empty, and eventually just chased it off so I...

Skip The Mayo, Try Avocado

Here is a food tip I learned off of Instagram, from ‘OhMyBod‘. When making tuna substitute using mayonnaise and use an avocado instead. I put grape tomatoes in mine and used Ezekiel bread. I love avocados and they are another food that I didn’t have a whole lot of experience with, until I purchased a cook book that taught how to sneak good foods into my kids meals I had never even purchased an avocado in my life!  The book taught a avocado pudding recipe that sounded repulsive but was actually super rich and delicious! Avocados are another food that I like to cook for breakfast and eat with eggs.  Usually...

Just As Before

All really good thoughts seem to come to me when I am not with pen, paper, or keyboard.  A couple weeks ago I was vacuuming and started to think about a scripture, Daniel 6:10.  In this scripture the presidents and princes are looking for some reason to get rid of Daniel, which they are finding very hard, so they come up with a plan.  They get the king to sign a royal statute making a firm decree that no one can worship anyone or thing other than King Darius.  This however does not stop Daniel. Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his...
